3 Amazing Resorts That Offer Sustainable Vacations
Coral Reef conservation at Six Senses Laamu – Maldives

You Can Have Sustainable Vacations with these ResortsSix Senses Laamu is set amidst an island backdrop of flora and fauna. There is also a biologically diverse reef that has been present for millions of years, and Six Senses Laamu has adopted a non-interference approach to preserve the island’s health.

During the construction of Six Senses Laamu, buildings were designed to minimize the damage to the island and lagoon. Actually, a horticulturalist was taken aboard to enhance the green footprint of the resort by addressing the waste management system, the garden productivity and other issues. A resident Marine Biologist is employed by the resort to inform guests about the coral reef ecosystem and about responsible behavior in the reef environment.

In 2013, Six Senses Laamu began supporting the Manta Trust, a UK based NGO that aims to protect the world’s manta ray population through research, awareness and education. Three years later, with over 100 individual mantas identified, nearly 2,000 sightings catalogued, and with the completion of the country’s’ first ever manta ray measurement study using lasers, the partnership between the resort and the Manta Trust has developed to levels never anticipated.

The continuation of this unique collaboration and of the year-round research of these majestic creatures makes Six Senses Laamu the ideal location for not only divers hoping to explore stunning new dive sites, but also cutting edge marine research.

Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi: Preserving Wildlife in the Local Environment

You Can Have Sustainable Holidays with these Resorts Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi is another resort that gives you a chance to have sustainable vacations in the UAE. Working with a resident marine biologist and schools within the area, Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi conducts eco-tours and beach clean ups to help educate the younger generation and preserve the natural environment.

Many of its activities focus on helping to protect the endangered Hawksbill Turtle, with the successful hatching of the first Hawksbill turtle nest taking place on Saadiyat Beach, Abu Dhabi last summer.

Walk Amongst Wildlife at Anantara and Golden Triangle Elephant Foundation

Anantara is set in beautiful Thailand, and if you are staying there you can undertake walks with elephants and listen to talks from scientists and experts. Each activity helps welfare projects rescue and protect elephants from Thailand’s city streets. They do this whilst also helping to provide English lessons to the riders and their families.

Now you know what to search for if you are planning on having sustainable vacations this year.

xoxo
