Evening Makeup Tips for Your Night Out

Number one rule: To create a glamourous and striking look, play up with either your eyes or lips. Accentuating both features may be too dramatic and look severe. Then again, evening looks are about going all out and if you are in the mood to do both, discard this ‘rule’ add a little powder over your face and head out!

1. Prepping Your Canvas

Working on clean skin should always be the first thing in mind. Cleanse and apply a moisturizer while your skin is still a little damp which helps in retaining moisture. Evening parties are usually filled with lots of entertainment such as dancing and chances are that your makeup may end up smudging. To avoid this always smooth on a good primer to help your foundation go on easy and last the whole time. Exfoliating your skin beforehand also helps.Simple Evening Makeup Tips

2. Gorgeous Eyes

Any evening makeup tips are incomplete without the eyes. If you choose to go with a vibrant eye I would advise keeping your lip colour neutral. To start, apply a mid-toned shade of your choice, I would go for the green. Use a brighter green shade on the centre of your lids and blend well. Take the same light green shade and apply it to the corner of your eye and drag it along your lower lash line. Finish up with a dark green shade in the crease of your eye and blend out any harsh lines.

My eye makeup is never complete without a wing. Winged eyeliner is the perfect way to add more pizazz to your eyes and is a plus to our eyeshadow look. Don’t forget to line your waterline preferably with a black or dark brown pencil eyeliner.

3. Baddie Lashes

Lashes always get me fired up and give me a little extra attitude. To get fluttery eyelashes to go for a set of individual lashes. These are usually easier to use and look more natural when compared to a full fringe. Start by curling your lashes with an eyelash curler. If it is your first time trying them on, test them out first. Place about three lashes along your lash lines toward the outer corner of each eye, they’ll temporarily hold. Adjust until you have the effect you want then remove.

With a drop of eyelash glue (preferably the transparent one) on the back of your hand, use your tweezers to dip the base of the lash in and attach them close to the roots of your lash lines. Once you are done and the glue is dry, apply a layer of mascara.

4. Bold Lip

It would be a sin to forget the lips in our evening makeup tips. Going for a statement lip colour always ties up a subtle evening makeup look. Start by exfoliating your lips with a sugar scrub, by massaging it all over your lips. Rinse off with cool water and pat dry. Doing this first will prevent those harsh lines that usually appear when we put on lipstick. Follow up with a lip balm to moisturize your lips. If you decide to line your lips, shade them all the way. Pick your lip bold lip colour such as red or purple which is always a classic.

5. Glow Girl!

Your selfies and pictures will always look extra when you have a beautiful glow tying up your whole look. You can fake a glow by using a highlighter in the right areas. Rule of thumb; less is more. Apply highlighter where light naturally hits your face such as on your cupid’s bow, brow bone and your cheekbones. If you want to make your face seem shorter, highlight your cheekbones in a rounded fashion. To make your face appear elongated, highlight along your jawline and under your cheekbones to give a sharper look.
