Charming Far East Flavors at Fuchsia Urban Thai Dubai

Charmed by Far East Flavors at Fuchsia Urban Thai Dubai

Charming Far East Flavors at Fuchsia Urban Thai DubaiDubai is well-known as a foodie haven that features almost every cuisine in the world. I have had the pleasure of trying out multiple of these cuisines, some more than others, but Thai cuisine has always seemed to escape my palate. So, when I was invited for dinner at Fuchsia Urban Thai restaurant in Dubai’s Business Bay, I jumped at the chance to see if the flavors from the Far East could win me over, considering I’m a tad bit addicted to Mediterranean flavors. But who’s to say you can’t be in love with two cuisines at the same time? I’m open to this possibility.

Located on the first floor at the Business Square, Fuchsia Urban Thai is hard to miss, what with the name displayed at the front in big neon fuchsia letters. Once inside, the restaurant is casually decorated with different seating areas including a kid’s dining/play area, and another designated area for people who’d like to test their table tennis skills while eating. We chose to sit somewhere in the middle where we had a clear view of the terrace and unrestricted view of the kitchen.

On the said day it was not very busy, I guess it’s because it was a weekday and most of the offices in the area had already closed shop, but as the evening wore on, people started Thai food lovers started streaming in.

The Menu at Fuchsia Urban Thai

Charming Far East Flavors at Fuchsia Urban Thai DubaiThe restaurant prides itself on making the most complex elements of contemporary Thai cuisine from scratch in order to live up to their promise of offering healthy and sustainable dishes. They have a fun contemporary twist on healthy Thai food such as the purple rice, zoodles and cauliflower rice that is not only amazing but looks beautiful as well.

My drink of choice was fresh coconut water, straight from a green coconut, with a paper straw (yes, they are environmentally friendly, which is a big plus), while my dining partner went for plain orange juice. And since I wanted to have a real contemporary Thai cuisine experience at this Fuchsia Urban Thai restaurant, we decided to go all-in, from starter to dessert. Our starters were made up of prawn cakes, mild clear seafood soup, and their customer-favorite seafood salad with glass noodles, with of course their complimenting condiments.Charming Far East Flavors at Fuchsia Urban Thai Dubai

Saying the flavor of each dish stood out is an understatement because the moment I took a bite, I could clearly tell the ingredients involved. In other words, the flavors played well together, with none drowning the other. They simply elevate your senses and transport you to a whole new different experience.

Thai Flavors at Their Best

I decided to go vegetarian on the mains and chose their special house blend vegetarian green curry (which our server mentioned is the most popular) with stir-fried cauliflower rice, and the other party chose mild cashew nut chicken with purple rice, which we loved as well.

What makes the flavors stand out at this Thai restaurant is largely due to the fact that the spices are specially sourced from Thailand, with sauces made regularly from scratch, according to Sheldon, the Fuchsia Urban Thai manager. Also, you can expect a welcome twist to your order as Chef Sangwon sprinkles some magic into the dishes.Charming Far East Flavors at Fuchsia Urban Thai Dubai

Other mains you might enjoy include their flavorful fried wok quinoa, salmon with lychee made to perfection, lamb shank with yellow curry and more. In addition to their natural ingredients, the amazing team has also crafted a separate Very Vegan Menu, that comes with as many as 16 offerings to cater to the vegans.Charming Far East Flavors at Fuchsia Urban Thai Dubai

By the time we finished our mains (although I requested a doggy bag which Sheldon was happy to pack), there was very little room left for dessert, so we decided to share a serving of their banana fritters, which was made up of crispy fried banana drizzled in caramel sauce with a side of coconut ice cream.

The Rise and Dine Ala Carte Brunch

Charming Far East Flavors at Fuchsia Urban Thai DubaiWell, my dinner ended with the banana fritters, but I have to mention the Fuchsia Urban Thai brunch which is a break from the regular Dubai brunches every Friday and Saturday. In addition to their favorite menu items, the Asian-inspired brunch has three interactive stations which allow everyone to get involved in the process of creation and inspiration. These include the Make Your Own Dim Sum Station for AED 32, Build Your Own Wok Dish Station for AED 45, and Fresh Juice/Mocktail Stations for AED 28. The brunch is available from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm every Friday and Saturday at the Bay Square, Business Bay branch.

So, has Fuchsia Urban Thai won me over to the Far East? Well, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Nevertheless, this Thai restaurant is a must-try for anyone who appreciates flavors of contemporary Thai cuisine. And just in case you were wondering, no, they don’t serve alcoholic beverages.
