Skin Beauty: Essential Oils to the Rescue

Essential oils for skin beautyEssential oils have become the magic ingredient in nearly every lotion, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body soap. I used to purchase body lotions or hair care products that had the so-called essential oils, until I realized that I could actually have the oils in a more natural and concentrated form, and do the mixing myself.

Currently, I’m using argan oil, ylang-ylang, vitamin E and lavender essential oils to spice up raw shea butter, which produces a very natural and great-smelling body butter. With this body butter, you will never catch me on those beauty isles wondering and squinting to find out what a certain body lotion or oil has.

Worth Buying: Forever Living Essential Oils

Although oily skin looks anything but attractive, with the feeling that you are about to have an acne party, your skin drying out is somewhat worse because of the irritation and flakes that come with it. I guess what I am trying to say is that a healthy and moisturized skin, from head to toe, is better; you just have to know the essential oils to go for.

I have put together a short list of several essential oils to help your skin thrive without worrying about the next acne break, or looking like a doughnut straight out of the deep fryer.

Essential Oils to Spice Up Your Skincare Game

Olive oil

If you enjoy your way around the kitchen like yours truly, then I’m certain that you have a bottle of extra virgin olive oil in your cabinet. Yes, it is a healthy option for your meals, but it doesn’t have to end there. Olive oil contains lactic acid, which can gently exfoliate your skin and help in the cell turnover. It has also been used as a skin protector for centuries, which makes me think the people from long ago, must have found something splendid with olive oil.

Lavender oil

I use my lavender oil for its aroma; it kind of kills the shea butter’s raw smell. Naturally, this essential oil is great for stopping acne-causing bacteria in its tracks, meaning less chance of infections. It also increases skin elasticity, hence acting as an anti-aging agent for your skin.

Argan oil

If you want to maintain your skin’s complexion, this is the oil for you. Its high concentration of vitamin E and fatty acids make it perfect for repairing and protecting your skin. Real argan oil is a bit pricey; so in case you come across a cheaper version, run a mile and don’t look back.

Tea Tree oil

Is your skin prone to acne? Consider investing in tea tree oil. Its anti-fungal and antibacterial qualities are worth it. Some studies have even suggested that it’s more effective than benzoyl peroxide, which is a key ingredient in acne-fighting products. Additionally, it can soothe your skin, naturally, repair it and leave it radiant.

Organic Coconut oil

We all know coconut oil is great for the hair and oil pulling (although I have never tried the latter). That aside, if your skin is really suffering from dryness to the point where the flakes are transferred to your socks or tights, you need coconut oil in your bathroom urgently. It’s considered an amazing deep conditioner and a great moisturizer for the skin.
