Remedies for Uneven Skin Tone You Should Try

Uneven skin tone remediesUneven skin tone can make you look overly tired, be it in the morning, evening, mid-morning, or noon. It is a bit embarrassing when your friends start feeling sorry for you because you look tired, while in reality, you are not tired; it’s just your skin misbehaving.

Remedies for Uneven Skin Tone

Your uneven skin tone could be a result of too much exposure to the sun, decreased circulation of the blood, pigmentation, excessively dry or oily skin, acne vulgaris, or some other more serious skin disorders.

As you already know, one way to make sure your skin tone’s unevenness is not visible to the human eye is by applying make-up. But by this, I do not mean just any make-up, but tons of foundation to a point where the cream on your last birthday cake would shy away, all for the sole purpose of hiding your uneven skin color.

But even though the foundation might work, there is a downside to this method. As a start, it takes a lot of time to do all this painting and retouching on your face, then there is the need for re-application because the weather is melting it off, finally, and most importantly your skin needs to breathe and relax hence the need to go “bare” at times.

There are a number of commercial products to combat uneven skin tones on the shelves and there are also a number of natural home products inside your kitchen cabinet. This month we bring you several different ways you can even out your skin tone from the comfort of your own home.

Lemon and Yogurt

Uneven skin tone remediesMix the juice of one lemon with plain natural yogurt. Cleanse your face then apply the mixture. Leave it on for 30 minutes to one hour then wash it off. This evens out the skin tone and removes excess oil from your skin. As a bonus, the lemon juice will also give you a natural facelift, which will leave your skin looking firmer and more radiant. As for the natural yogurt, it will act as a natural exfoliator due to the presence of lactic acid. Use the mask two to three times a week.

Olive oil

Since sometimes the skin can be left with dry patches which can cause discoloration, olive oil can help you towards achieving an even skin tone. After gently washing your face, apply olive oil to the dry patches; you can let it stay overnight. As a result, the omega 3 fatty acids in the oil will soothe the skin and alleviate the dryness by providing it with moisture. Apply the olive oil every night before bed.

Oatmeal

A while back, we featured oatmeal as a superfood that has a lot of health benefits for your body. Another benefit of this food can be found in its skin-toning properties. For this to work out for your uneven skin tone, all you have to do is finely grind it, mix it with water and scrub your face – this will act as an exfoliator. Afterward, mix the remaining finely ground oatmeal with natural yogurt and apply it to your face as a mask.  The minerals found in oatmeal will naturally cleanse and brighten the face. This routine can be repeated twice a week.

Baking soda

If you like baking and you have uneven skin tone, then this is your lucky day. Just pull out some of your leftover baking soda and mix with a little water to make a smooth paste out of it. After washing your face, apply the paste on your face and leave it on for about one minute then wash it off. The alkalinity in the baking soda will lift off any dead skin cells that might be causing the discoloration without disrupting the skin’s PH level. You can perform this procedure every day.

Honey

Uneven skin tone remediesHoney has been touted as a natural healer for centuries. This sweet element is also good for the skin. By applying it to your face, you will get an end result of moisturized, soft, and healed skin. It also relieves itching caused by dry skin. So if you have uneven skin tone, you can use honey for more than just adding it to your green tea. If you are using it on your face, start with every day then move on to three times a week.

Specialized dermatologist

If all of the above fail to improve your skin even a little bit, it might be an indication that you have an underlying problem or a more serious issue with your skin. It would be advisable to consult a specialized dermatologist who will diagnose you and inform you of what is happening to your skin.

And as usual, remember to eat and incorporate foods rich in vitamin C, cruciferous vegetables like Brussels sprouts, a sweet treat of dark chocolate, walnuts, carrots, omega 3 fatty acids, peppers, kidney beans, pomegranates, and more of what a nutritionist can advise.
